Bible Verse: Psalm 23:1 – The Lord is My Shepherd

“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.” This verse from Psalm 23:1 is one of the most loved and comforting passages in the Bible.

It paints a beautiful picture of God as our shepherd — the one who leads, provides, and protects. Just as a shepherd never leaves his sheep alone in dangerous fields, God never abandons us in the wilderness of life.

When David wrote these words, he understood the relationship between a shepherd and his sheep. Sheep are entirely dependent on their shepherd for food, water, and safety.

Likewise, we are dependent on God for spiritual nourishment, guidance, and protection.

This verse is a reminder that when we fully trust Him, we lack nothing we truly need. That doesn’t mean we’ll always have everything we want, but we will have everything necessary for our spiritual well-being and life’s journey.

In seasons of uncertainty, remember that your Shepherd knows the path even when you don’t. He’s guiding you toward green pastures — places of rest, peace, and provision.
